That's right, we're just 2 weeks out from the first ever no-holds barred auction. I can't tell you how excited I am to see how this plays out.
League update - everybody but Team Sunny/Eric/Patrick has registered and I hope tried a mock auction or two.
I must admit some disappointment in the general lack of creativity in the team names this year so far, but I actually blame the otherwise excellent ESPN.com site for this as it limits the free expression of team-ness.
Jamie - Team Tap Out - maybe he'll tap his way out of the closet one day
Ashby - He Hate Me - getting long in the tooth. But at least it reflects the feelings of most of the league towards you.
2 Weeks left. Get it together people.

One Regular.
Go figure, the only team yet to register is the 3-headed monster of laziness steered by Eric, Sunny, and Patrick.
Possible excuses? None.
Explanation: Soooo lazy.

Excitement And Tension Building
9 of 12 Teams have registered. Perhaps it is time to call out those that have not been able to find 3 minutes in their oh-so-busy schedules to register their teams:
Jamie - Seriously? Is it a fear of technology? Not enough man-grappling in this league for you? (I mean Tim and Jay are good for many hours of man-on-man crime.) I'm concerned that either your employer's over-zealous spam filter has blocked all league communication, or you've gone on one of your "adult" vacations and your return will require Costco-sized containers of sanitizer before you're allowed back into public.
Jay - Why so un-fun as of late? Work got you down? Is it a Tim thing? Too much Alberta for this month? Scared?
Eric/Sunny/Patrick - This 3-headed monster is rearing its penchant for laziness early. I simply can't wait to see how this plays out.
Also, please note the new poll feature on the blog. Register your opinion on Kevin's Communist tendencies soon!

Voting Results & League Update
The vote between Auction and Draft was a squeaker with Auction prevailing.
So to re-cap, this year's play will be Head to Head format, with a two round play-off with players acquired via online auction. The invites to join the league have gone out with 6 of 12 teams registering so far. We've had to reduce the league to 12 teams for mostly legal reasons that our counsel has urged me not to go into. But let's just say that we now have 12 engaged and eager owners willing to do unspeakable things to participate.
In order to prepare for the upcoming auction (Wednesday September 9th, 9PM), I suggest you go to http://games.espn.go.com/ffl/mockdraftlobbyto try out the auction system. I warn you that it is very much like ebay on meth. The espn.com fantasy system is fairly awesome and is tied into all the player and team news, fantasy stats and converage and many other tasty, sports-related themes.

Summer Meeting Agenda
Just waiting on responses from the masses on who is in or out this year and which date (Aug. 27th or Sept. 9th) works for the most people. In the mean time, consider the following issues for the meeting:
1) Finances:
A final accounting shall be tallied and presented. Bring cash.
2) 2009-2010 Format:
i) Head-to-Head vs Roto.
ii) Player Acquisition: Auction vs. Draft
iii) To go to a Keeper League
3) Determining a Winner:
If we go roto, that's easy as most points win. If we go head-to-head, we have to decide on whether to have the last 3 weeks as playoffs or to simply let the win/loss record determine the winner.
More to come.

The New New Thing
So, we're just a few weeks out from the beginning of another season. Conversations with many owner/managers prove that the anticipation is palpable. Dead weight will be replaced with fresh meat. Many changes to come - switching to espn.com as the host, salary cap, keeper, and head-to-head.
Oh my.
It is soon to be on.
Stay tuned, details coming soon.
